The 2025 CDR Mike Guyer Salute to Armed Forces Game
Friday, October 3, 2025 – Warrior Memorial Field, Wells, ME
Each fall, the Wells community gathers under the Friday night lights for one of the most meaningful events of the season — the CDR Mike Guyer Salute to Armed Forces Game. On Friday, October 3rd at 6:30 PM, the Warriors will take the field against the Leavitt Hornets, but the real spotlight will shine on the veterans and service members we honor that evening.
For nearly a decade, the Mike Guyer Foundation and Wells High School have hosted what has become the largest salute to armed forces game in the state of Maine, proudly recognizing over 75 veterans each year. The evening begins with special pregame festivities, including a coin toss ceremony and the presentation of colors.
This year, the Wells Rotary Club is making the evening even more special by providing a complimentary BBQ dinner for all veterans and their families at 4:30 PM, ahead of the on-field ceremonies. Steak tips, corn on the cob, and garden salad will be served as a gesture of appreciation to those who have served.
As we remember and celebrate CDR Mike Guyer, a Wells native and Navy SEAL, this game serves not only as a football showdown but as a community-wide moment of gratitude, pride, and unity.
Mark your calendars, invite your family and neighbors, and come be a part of this tradition that blends Wells football with a powerful salute to those who protect our freedom.
